The historic photo is a an elephant. It was homemade sculpted. The elephant started as a fake rocky sea cliff that eventually lost its lighthouse. The elephant was also a reported as a giant tooth. Some similarities that still exist between the two pictures is that the building still has two doors in the front and the “eye” in the middle. The differences in the two photos are that now the building has an awning in front, and in the older picture the building had a shed to park a car under. The building has aged and the shed is no longer there anymore. I think Roanoke might have been a fun place to be on the weekends because of the things downtown. Today, Roanoke doesn’t have a theatre or a few other things to do like they did years ago. The future of this area I think will be busier and there will be more things to do because over the years more things have been added such as restaurants, ice cream shops, hair salons and various other things.
